over the course of creating this website, i did the safety training to volunteer and then volunteered at the Gulf Coast Humane Society three times. doing this has helped me become better at handling animals i've never met before, and i will continue volunteering in the future to expand my experience working with cats and dogs! the following will be short accounts i wrote the days that i volunteered.
12/23/2025 - 1 hour: Today was my first time volunteering at the Gulf Coast Humane Society! I was there for an hour, and I began by helping a staff member distribute wet cat food to the adult cats in the Cattery. Afterwards, I took two dogs on walks that were about 15 minutes each. Lastly, I went back to the Cattery and played with a few of the cats.
12/31/2025 - 1 hour: I began by taking two dogs on walks, the first was named Beauty, and pictures of her will be below this. Beauty did well with me, however the second dog did not. After the walks, which were a total of 40 minutes, I helped out in the cattery and played with the cats until I left.
1/18/2026 - 45 minutes: Today I was at the Humane Society for a bit shorter time than normal. I took two dogs on walks, their names were Goji and Winona. Goji was an older puppy and had a lot of energy, while Winona was very sweet and calm. Winona was not a puppy, so that probably explains why she was much easier to walk. (Winona is on the right, Goji the two pictures on the left.)
hii everyone! this is the site i have created for my IB MYP personal project, its focus on researching cats and dogs because i want to study to become a vet med after highschool. i hope you like it!!
