their predominant traits: beagles are very sociable dogs who are good with children, families, and other dogs. they have lots of energy, are barky and vocal, and prone to separation anxiety. they are often viewed as excellent hunting dogs and loyal companions due to their love for exploring and digging, and because they have great noses.

common health concerns: their lifespan is 12-15 years, and the following are some common health issues for the breed...

• ear infections, which they are prone to due to large floppy ears
• hip dysplasia
• obesity because they love to eat
• epilepsy
• hypothyroidism
• back problems such as Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD)
• lymphoma and bladder cancers
• eye issues like glaucoma, cherry eye, and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)
• dental disease

grooming and maintenance:

• because this breed is more energetic, they need at least one walk a day, two hours of exercise overall.
• their coats are short, so brushing can be about once every one or two weeks.
• owners should clean their ears weekly, making sure they are always dry (to prevent infection).
• bathe beagles about once every month.
• it is recommended to brush their teeth three times a week.
• because they are prone to obesity, do not give them any human/table food!
